Community Non-Profits Working Together To Do the Most Good
On November 24, 2020, the Tucson’s St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church presented the Salvation Army Tucson Amphi Corps with a check in the amount of $3131.53/ 10% proceeds made at this year’s Tucson Greek Festival. In addition, the Church also donated 500 chicken leg quarters, which the Salvation Army will use to feed families in our community over the holidays.
Captain Yohani Ortiz stated “the money and food was much needed and will be used to serve our neighbors facing poverty, hunger and job loss.”
The complexity and magnitude of the social, political, and economic challenges facing our community are at unprecedented levels. These two organizations have recognized that these challenges cannot be tackled alone. This generous gift is an example of them working together to create real, significant local impact.
